'''A Suit of Eddie's Father''' occurs as 1963 comedy film directed by Vincente Minnelli. It tells the story of a widowman played by Glenn Ford, with the immature boy played by Ron Howard who believes his father should marry but disapproves of the women his father is interested inside. It too stars Shirley Jones, Stella Stevens, Dina Merrill and Jerry Van Dyke. Its profits led to the television sitcom which ran on ABC from 1969 until 1972 and starred Bill Bixby as Eddie's father, Tom Corbitt, Brandon Cruz as Eddie, and Miyoshi Umeki as their housekeeper, Mrs Livingston (she called Tom, "Mr. Eddie's Father"). A theme song of the television program, "Best Friend", was written & performed by Harry Nilsson, & was played above opening credits showing Bixby and Cruz around various happy moments.
